I was out back behind Powel’s after a PWCG meetup, unlocking my bike, when I saw this crate fastened  with zip ties to a bicycle. I snagged the idea and ran with it.

I took my useless Mountain Bike, a rack and a crate and began to work. It took about nine industrial strength zip ties to fasten  the crate to my rack. I could have bolted on the crate, but, that cost money. Zip ties are cheap!

This method seems to be pretty sturdy, because, after several trips I only lost one zip tie. A little effort and some extra parts transformed an ignored mountain bike into a useful cargo mule.

Here is a picture of a crap load of groceries in the crate! Amazing!

Warning! The center of gravity is quite high up in this configuration. One finds that the bike will topple over quite effortlessly. Watch out!
